Using Job Boards
The great thing about Job boards is that they provide job seekers with a great list of vacancies, which often are not advertised in the main stream job sections in newspapers or industry publications.
However, the ease of application also results in greater competition.
When using job boards to search for vacancies, enter the job title you're interested in or use "keywords" (a single word) or "key phrases" (small string of words) that is related to the job you want, e.g. "sales director", "office manager", "php developer" or keywords such as "retail" or "java".
Job boards often have an advanced search option where you can narrow down your search by allowing you to enter the town or city where you want to work, what industry you want to work in and what salary/rate you are after. When entering the salary or rate you are after.
When applying for jobs, be realistic and don't apply for jobs which does not match your skills or experience, e.g. your CV will be immediately dismissed if you apply for a vacancy that requires 5 years experience where you only have 2 years experience or they require 5 key skills and you only have 2 of those skills.
A great thing about job boards is that they allow job seekers to store their CVs in the database. Recruiters can then search through the list of CVs and approach job seekers directly if their CV matches the vacancy requirements.
CVPreview focuses on CV searching. If you haven't already, consider registering your CV with CVPreview and pitch youself to a wide range of recruiters.
